We want every one of our films to be reachable by anyone who wants to watch them. If something on this site gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it.

1. Our conformance target

Off the Grid Studios is working to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. WCAG 2.2 is backward compatible with WCAG 2.1, which is the standard adopted by the US Department of Justice and the benchmark used in most accessibility settlements.

We say “working to conform,” not “fully conformant,” because that is the truth. Known gaps are listed below with what we are doing about them.

2. What we have done

  • A “skip to main content” link on every page.
  • Text alternatives for images; images that carry no information are correctly marked as decorative so screen readers skip them rather than reading a filename.
  • Descriptive titles on every embedded video frame, and accessible names on icon buttons.
  • Semantic landmarks and a logical heading order on every page.
  • Labels tied to every form field, not placeholder text alone.
  • A visible keyboard focus indicator sitewide, so you can always see where you are.
  • Full keyboard operability, including the video players and the privacy banner.
  • A single language declared on every page for screen reader pronunciation.
  • Layouts that reflow to 320 px and tolerate 200% text zoom without loss of content.

3. Known limitations

  • Video captions. Our films are hosted on YouTube, and caption coverage across the back catalogue is not yet complete. We are working through it, newest films first. If you need captions on a specific film sooner, email us and we will prioritise it.
  • Audio description. Most of our films do not yet carry audio description tracks. This is a real gap and we are scoping it.
  • Colour contrast. Some decorative and small caption text on dark photographic backgrounds may fall below the 4.5:1 ratio. We are auditing and correcting these.
  • Third-party content. Our merchandise store runs on Shopify and video runs on YouTube. We do not control their interfaces, though we do choose accessible options where they offer them.

We deliberately do not use an accessibility overlay or toolbar widget. Disability advocacy organisations consider them harmful, and they do not fix underlying code.

4. Tell us about a barrier

If you hit something you cannot use, we want to hear about it — it is the fastest way for us to fix it.

  • Email: ra@offthegridstudios.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line
  • Or use our contact form

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 3 business days and to give you a fix or a timeline within 10 business days. If you tell us what you were trying to do and what assistive technology you use, we can move faster. If we cannot make something accessible quickly, we will give you the content another way.

5. Scope and assessment

This statement covers offthegridstudios.com and the pages served from it. It was last reviewed on 24 August 2026 using a combination of automated scanning and manual keyboard and screen reader checks. We review it at least annually and whenever we make significant changes to the site.
